Lanarkshire Housing Association announced the winners of its annual gardening competition for its Motherwell and Bellshill residents.

The winner of the individual garden category for Motherwell was Mr and Mrs D Tollan of 24 School View, while neighbour Mr C Boyle of 29 School View, was runner-up.

In Bellshill the individual garden category went to Mrs L Blair of 67 Sapphire Road, with joint runners-up Brenda Mount of 51 John Bowman Gardens and Maureen Coia of 53 John Bowman Gardens.

The winner of the common area category in Motherwell were Miss C Hastie and Mr G Watson for 105 Manse Road, with Mrs Rogers the runner-up for 1 Aurelia Court.

In Bellshill the common area category went to Mr and Mrs J Doran for 16 East Dean Street, and again there were joint runners-up in Mr and Mrs J Kyle for 54 Sapphire Road and Miss L McKay and Mr P Treanor for 56 Sapphire Road.

Prizes were presented by Iain Glenny, chairman of the housing services sub-committee, at an awards ceremony in Brandon Street, Motherwell.

He said: “This role provides me with a fantastic opportunity to recognise the hard work and contribution of our tenants, with this event providing a great occasion to honour tenants for their contribution to their communities.

“We are delighted to recognise tenants who make a real difference top their communities, they truly deserve commendation for the magnificent contribution they make to their estate and neighbourhood.

“Their hard work is acknowledged as true participation and we give credit to the tireless dedication to improve their neighbourhood and environment.”
