YDance is bringing some of the country’s best young dancers together to perform at the Royal Conservatoire in Scotland this month including Catriona Robertson from Motherwell.

Now in it’s eighth year the performance programme offers dancers aged 12 to 21 the chance to develop their skills with former participants going on to study dance full-time and become professional dance artists.

Catriona, who goes into fifth year at Dalziel High after the summer holidays has been dancing since the age of five with Valerie Brown School of dance and hope to one day follow in their footsteps.

She said: “I have been dancing for ten years now having the opportunity to take part in this programme has been great.

“I mostly do ballet, but the YDance choreography has focused on modern and contemporary so it’s been different and I’m really looking forward to performing at the Royal Conservatoire.

“It is my dream to be a professional dancer, there’s nothing else I want to be, and I hope to have the opportunity to study there one day.”
