MOTHERWELL singer Billy Warren has won the Regent Shopping Centre Hamilton’s ‘R Factor’ competition.

The 32-year-old beat off competition from around 160 entries to take first place.

He wowed judges with performances of Take That’s Rule The World and The Script’s The Man Who Can’t Be Moved in front of a huge audience at the centre last Saturday - winning top marks.

Second place went to Justine Wilson (15), of Hamilton, while third went to Robbie Anderson (11) of Wishaw.

Ten performers took to the stage for the final, which offered a top prize of £1,000 in cash and three hours in the SubZero professional recording studio.

The Regent Shopping Centre’s team of judges chose 40 contestants from the original 160 video entries.

Over two semi-finals, half of the future stars were chosen to appear on YouTube where the public could vote for their favourites.

Over 6,000 votes were cast and the top 10 were invited to appear in the final at the Regent Centre on Saturday.

Billy said: “I can’t wait to get into the studio and record some of my favourite songs. Thanks to the Regent Centre, SubZero recording studio and to everyone who supported me.”
