Art’s the way to spend summer
CHILDREN from all over North Lanarkshire gathered at Motherwell Civic Centre for the annual Summer Arts Festival.
Now in its fifth year, the event provided an opportunity for talented students to showcase their work to a packed audience.
Among the performers were children from Bothwellpark HS, Firpark School, Cathedral PS, Clydeview PS, Logans PS and St Bernadette’s PS, all Motherwell; Fallside HS, Viewpark; New Stevenston PS, and St Patrick’s PS, New Stevenston.
The entertainment included choirs, bands, dancing, drama and excerpts from a pantomime.
Christine Pollock CBE, executive director of learning and leisure, said: “The Arts Festival is a fantastic event for all involved and the performances never fail to impress with their creativity.
“Many of the young people involved would not normally have the chance to perform to such a large audience, so to have put on such a great show was fabulous.
“Creating opportunities for them to exhibit their talents is the aim of this annual festival, and I would like to congratulate everyone who took part and thank the outstanding audience who supported them.”
