YOUNG singers from all over the county took part in the Lanarkshire Schools Choir Festival at Motherwell Concert Hall.

Almost 500 youngsters participated, including groups from Cathedral Primary, Motherwell, St Teresa's Primary, Newarthill, and John Paul II Primary, Viewpark.

The 73-strong choir from Cathedral performed High Hopes and A Closing Prayer, 47 children from St Teresa's belted out I'm On Top Of The World and As Long As I Have Music, while 56 John Paul II pupils sang Rule The World and Let It Be.

The ninth annual festival was organised by Supercounty and was compered this year by Motherwell-born and internationally recognised mezzo soprano Linda Ormiston.
