A NEWARTHILL comedian is attempting to run the length of Britain to provide material for a new show at the Edinburgh Festival.

Joe Donnachie set off from John O'Groats to Land's End on Saturday, June 6, and expects to finish in 35 days.

He will then perform his show The Road to Endorphia in Edinburgh in August.

Joe said: "Running makes me happy, it's kind of like an addiction and a journey like this is a binge."

This will be Joe's second year at the festival having performed his Run Man Show last year.

He will be appearing at the Royal Mile Tavern and Cruz in Leith as part of the free festival initiative which sees artists given a space to perform in exchange for putting on a free show.
