A GROUP of sixth year students and staff are attending a Global Student Forum organised by the charity Damaris in London this week.

Highlights of the trip’s schedule included attending a performance of ‘Henry V’ at Shakespeare’s Globe, a tour of the Houses of Parliament led by local Frank Roy MP and a night out at a West End show, the ever popular Willy Russell musical ‘Blood Brothers’.

The students - Jennifer Fallon, Meghan Sweeney, Dominique McGuinn, Stephanie Caldow, Marie Foy, Holly McGregor, Hannah McGurk and Amy Watters - will use the information and peer educator skills they learn at the conference to help them as they undertake the Church’s Caritas award over the course of the coming year.

CHEMISTRY VISIT: Third year chemistry students Lauren Davidson, Louise Winchester, Sarah Fallon and Aksah Ashraf recently attended the Salter’s chemistry camp at Heriott Watt University.

The camps have been running since 1998 and aim to enable young people to explore the fun of chemistry and help motivate them into developing a long term interest in the subject and its applications in modern life.

LEGAL ADVICE: An education programme which examines the legal system is helping pupils understand that laws bring responsibilities as well as rights.

Local law firm, Ballantyne & Copland, has nominated Taylor for the Schools Law & Citizenship Web project.
