THE annual fifth year induction week at Our Lady’s was a little shorter this year because of the holiday weekend, but was still packed with activities and information over two days.

Half of fifth year took on paintball targets, bridge building and a special alphabet scavenger hunt with the assistance of the Army, while the other half worked on building a flagpole, writing and performing a team anthem and designing an egg launcher with school staff.

The teams swapped places after lunchtime.

The following morning fifth year pupils worked with Ruth Robertson and Marion Russell from Skills Development Scotland to design a restaurant, before meeting with depute headteacher Mary Mulholland to organise new timetables and learn about expectations of upper school pupils.

Meanwhile sixth year pupils spent a day in Strathclyde Park taking part in team building exercises, tug-of-war competitions, orienteering and a photography scavenger hunt with staff from the school and North Lanarkshire Council’s community learning and development section.

The following day activities focused on communication skills to assist pupils with their new first year buddies, as well as a HeartStart course on CPR.
