AN annual charity night organised by a Viewpark man has raised £1,000 for two worthwhile causes.

The sixth sportsman’s dinner evening organised by John Casey was held at Burnhead Bowling Club and, as with the previous five dinners, proved a great success.

Guest speakers were Procurator Fiscal Jim Robertson, retired lawyer Bill Copland and publican Jimmy Stirling and the £1,000 raised will be split between two nominated charities, the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) and the Ronald McDonald House facility at Yorkhill Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow.

John said: “Without the support of our local business we would not have raised as much.”

The amount brings to £7,200 the total raised for beneficiary charities by John’s dinner over the past six years.
